Cleo de Merode (Cleopatra Diane de Merode), was a famous celebrity figure and French dancer during the time of the Belle Epoque (1871-1914ish). She was among the most photographed and sketched people in the world at the time and was as famous for her fashion and style as her dancing. She made her professional debut as a dancer at the Paris Opera at the age of eleven. She had a long, illustrious career, dancing into her 50's. She lived to be 91 and passed away in 1966.
