George Sand

Amantine-Lucile-Aurore Dupin, aka George Sand (1 July 1804 – 8 June 1876) is another one of those people we feel needs more respect and deserves to be more well known. A Renaissance woman, novelist, socialist, activist and provocateur. She led an adventurous life, challenging many of the conventions of the time. She had a long relationship with Frederic Chopin and was romantically involved with a number of other artists and writers of the time. Her biography is interesting and worth reading as well for it's perspective on a quickly evolving Europe and France of the 19th century.
