This is only one of the thousands of cataloged paintings and/or illustrations that Arthur Hughes produced during his prodigious career. Shockingly after Arthur's wife, Tryphena died in 1921 (Arthur died 6 years earlier) their daughter Emily, needing to move into a smaller house and with lack of space had all of her father's "remaining preparatory sketches, and all his private papers and correspondence destroyed. Oh Emily.
