Laura Ingalls was born Feb. 7, 1867. Her family moved frequently during her youth. She lived in Wisconsin, Missouri and Kansas as a child. It was during these years of living a settlers life that her most famous stories Little House in the Big Woods were formed. She was a teacher for a number of years, wrote for farm journals, raised livestock, She lived a long life, passing away in 1949 at the age of 92. She was a true modern woman of her times and her stories endure and resonate today because of the strength of their characters and spirit and adventure of the stories.
