Veronica Franco would be considered a remarkable individual in any time period. Many of her accomplishments and successes are even more impressive taking into account she lived from 1546-1591. Mostly known for her role as cortigiana onesta (honest courtesan) she was also an intellectual, poet and fierce protector of family and friends. One more woman who would have filled more pages of our history books had fairness between genders been more of a reality. Here is to her memory.
